Day 5 : Friday 10th January
Activity 1 : The world of hip hop

Image result for the royal family dance crew 2019

Personally I love the Royal family dance crew, I've always found their dances to be very different and cool in many ways, but I do think that there was some things that they should of changed. For starters I really do feel like the pink was an odd choice of colour, to me the females look like they are life-sized highlighters and the boys look like they have bright leather cushions on their chest. I also found it difficult to really see each dancer individually while they danced (which might of been their goal but i wouldn't know). I also found some of their dance moves very funny and odd, for example like when they had some of the girl hang from the boys necks like a chain, I couldn't help but find it amusing. Although I really loved the songs that they had chosen, from watching their previous dances it really is something they would dance to and not only do they dance well to that sort of music but the songs themselves were really good. Another thing I like was how in-sync they were, I really do think it made them look amazing and united like a true Royal Family.

twenty-seven names

Image result for twenty seven names

Twenty-seven names is a fashion company that was originally named "Love Lies Bleeding", but after discovering that their company name was copyrighted by another company in America they decided to chance their store name instead of wasting time (and probably money) dealing with a lawsuit. Trying to figure out a new name for the company they wrote down the names of the people who have backed up and stuck with the company every step of the way. writing down every name gave the 27 in total, giving them their now new company name "Twenty-Seven Names". From looking at their clothing brand I don't think their name goes with their clothes and I really do think they should change it. Although the story behind them coming up with their store name makes up for the odd but amazing decision.

Image result for work or study

I've thought about this many times before and when I was little I wanted to be a lawyer, but now that I see how much of an impact a teacher has to many peoples lives its really opened my eyes up to that option. After school I want to either study to become a teacher or train to become a police officer, but in some time I know that I will switch over to either job after a couple of years. If I was too keep studying straight after school I would find a part-time job that doesn't clash with my classes. Although, the future is forever a mystery and maybe ill change my mind by the time I get to year 13, but all I know now is that I'll learn to earn.

Image result for Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz

Michel Mayor (on right)

For this activity I choose to read about the 2019 Nobel prize in physics, awarded to Michel Mayor. Michel was awarded the physics award for discovering an "for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star" . Michel was born on January 12th 1942, in Lausanne, Switzerland and was 77 at the time. Also at the time of receiving the award, Michel Mayor was affiliated with the University of Geneva, in Geneva Switzerland. Although Michel was not the only one to receive the 2019 Nobel prize in physics. He also shared the award with his partner Didier Queloz, but it didn't stop there. Not only did they have to share the award with each other but also with James Pebbles (but only for the theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology). So Michel was only awarded 1/4 of the prize ( along with Didier, but James receiving 1/2 of the prize).

Image result for tiny house nz

If I was to ever have the chance to live in a little house I don't think I would take that opportunity. Watching the little tours of each house was really cool and fun but I don't think I could ever live in a space that small. I;m a very unorganised and messy type of person and if I don't think I would be able to fit all my stuff in that small space. I've grown up in small but spacious houses but nothing to that extent. Although I love the designs and how they made it so that there is more room with less space, also the fact that everything is in close distance. Although I wouldn't really like to have the toilet so close to my kitchen, and because of those reasons (and some others) I don't think I would ever live in a small house, even thought it looks so cool and fun.

Image result for the starry night

The lovely painting "The starry night", painted by Vincent Van Gogh is very popular. When I look at the painting I see many tiny houses and a few Mountains, as well as a sky that looks to have had much thought into creating. The way the sky was created looks very strange and odd but its really what captures my attention when looking at the painting. When looking at the sky, the whiteness looks like the clouds swirled up and the yellow dots look like they represent the Moon and stars, and how bright they shine in the night sky. What also captures my attention is the black figure that takes up a good amount of the painting, to me it looks like black flames, but I'm not too sure what it really is or represents.

Image result for nsw fires

ways we could support the people who are affected by the fires in New South Wales (Australia) is:

1. hold a fundraiser and send all the money to the people affected
2. get them basic necessities like toothpaste and soap (ect), so they don't need to worry about simple necessity when they lost everything.
3. make comfort food baskets. filled with lots of foods and drinks for the families to eat.
4. Gather gift cards to send. gift cards for foods, clothes and even furniture (for when they get another house)
5. Write a sympathy letter to the family

Activity 1 :Guiding principle

Day 4 : Thursday 26th December - Indigenous rights
Activity 1 : Guiding principle

In my poster i was sure to add the Maori and English versions of the Whakatuaki . I also created a simple family tree, travelling from my grandparents to me (none of my siblings or my parents siblings were included). I dont know too much about my family tree but I went back as far as I could to show where some of my strengths and talents came from. I also added in some online photos of the older generations passing down some skills to the young ones, for example a father and grandfather teaching son/grandson to fish.

Activity 1 : The right to vote

The lovely, beautiful and amazing young woman you see in the photo above is me. I feel like the government should replace Kate Sheppard's photo with mine because I have a really cute smile, I suit the light blue colour of the $10 dollar note, I'm also very nice and funny. I know that I have not done anything well and amazing like Kate Sheppard to earn the opportunity to have my face on a $10 dollar bill (or any money note), but its nice to dream.

Dear DiaryDay : 730

Today is my second year in the Robben Island Prison. Today was the same as yesterday and will most likely be the same as tomorrow, but my spirits are high and I know I can overcome this. Waking up this morning was nothing different to how I woke up yesterday morning. The damp stench attacking my nose and the straw mat they call my bed getting thinner and thinner the more I rest on it. Breaking rocks was always the hardest part of the day, standing in the scorching hot sun all day feeling like your skin is going to melt off is not nice, but today was the day I received mail and a visitor. It was currently 6 months after I got my last letter and visitor and I couldn't wait to see my wife. She looked as beautiful as the last time I saw her. I studied a little tonight due to the guard turning off the light and the clouds covering the moonlight. I’ll be free one day, and when I'm free I won’t stop fighting for what is right.

Activity 1 : Playing favourites - Day 1

Day 1 : Monday 23rd December - Taking the lead
Activity 1 : Playing favourites

My top 5 favourite things to do might seem a little boring to most people but I love them very much. The top 5 favourite things I like to do is eat, sleep, listen to music, go on the netbook and hang out with friends. I like eating because it makes me happy and gives me lots of energy throughout the day. I love sleeping because it not only helps with my looks but after a good night sleep it makes me feel like a brand new person when I wake up. I also love to listen to music because its like the key to another world, when I listen to music it helps me stay calm and happy which is a big help now that I'm in college. Going on my netbook is also one of my favourite things to do because I not only get to do work on it but I also get to watch movies and just have some "me" time (talking to friends, watching YouTube videos ect). Hanging out with friends also makes me happy, but thats not the only reason why I love it. Its one of my favourite things to do because we always seem to create amazing and funny memories which makes life really great.

Activity 1: National Treasure - Day 5

Day 5 : Friday 20th December - Against the odds
Activity 1 : National Treasure

Image result for what do you treasure

When thinking of things that I treasure many things do come to mind, but if I was only to choose 3 it wouldn't be very hard to pick. I treasure many materialistic things, like my phone and PlayStation but the main one would have to be my "overall excellence award 2019" that I received during a camp I went to in March this year (2019). This award was given to basically the overall best student at camp, and although being in a large group of 30 they chose to give the award to me which was a real honour. Another thing I treasure would have to be my netbook. I treasure my netbook because its the key to my learning. It might sound strange that my netbook is the key to my learning, but now that my school is basically a technology based school, its hard for me to do work when i don't have my netbook (even with the provided computers). The last thing I treasure is nothing materialistic, its the thing that fills my heart with so much joy and makes me feel so safe and secure. That thing would have to be my family. I love and treasure my family just as much as they love and treasure me, they have been a big help to the person I have become today and without them I don't think I would be typing this.

Activity 1: Making a racket - Day 4

Day 4 : Thursday 19th December - Individual Pursuits
Activity 1 : Making a racket

For me by watching the videos I was able to learn so many things, things like how Serena and Venus are two very popular and high payed tennis players. I also learned that these two talented players are SISTERS! and that they are some of the most richest athlete women payed. Serena coming 1st and Venus coming 5th for highest payed women athletes. I also learnt from the sisters that men and women in the tennis industry don't get equal opportunities, for example in some tournaments they wont get equal pay. Something id still want to know is what are they doing right now to help with getting equal pay for men and women, and if they arent currently doing anything then what are they planning on doing to help get equal pay?.

3 things I found out:
1. Serena and Venus are sisters
2. They are both some of the highest payed women athletes (Serena coming 1st and Venus coming 5th
3. Men and women are not treated the same in the athletic industry

Something I still want to know:
1. What are they doing right now to help with getting equal pay for men and women
2. what are they planning on doing in the future to help get equal pay for men and women.

Activity 1: Rugby Superstars - Day 3

Day 3 : Wednesday 18th December - Team Players
Activity 1 : Rugby Superstars

Summer Learning Journey
If I was a superhero
Limi's story

If I was a superhero and had to choose 3 super powers of my choice it would be very easy. One superpower I would choose would have to be invisibility (the power to go invisible), I would want that super power because it would help me when sneaking up on "bad guys", giving me the advantage to capture them with ease. Another superpower I would have would be to read minds, I would have this superpower so that when questioning "bad guys" I would know if the person is lying or not, and the last superpower I would have, would to have super speed. I would want super speed because if I was chasing after "bad guys" I would be able to catch up to them really fast.

Super powers:
1. Invisibility
2. Read minds
3. Super speed

Activity 1: Flying Solo - Day 2

Day 2 : 17 December 2019 - Up in the air
Activity 1 : Flying solo

Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart are two famous women know both for their great achievement of being first women to complete some amazing solo flights, that no one had ever yet achieved. Although although both women being solo flyer, Jean batten was well known for her several-record breaking solo flight and was also the first ever person to fly solo from England to New Zealand, while Amelia Earhart was known for being the first ever woman to complete a non-stop solo flight from Canada to Ireland. While Jean and Amelia both made their success during the 1930's, Amelia's travels were cut short due to her sudden disappearance by the Howland island in 1937 (aged 39) , while Jean lived a life where parties where thrown in her honour till she also passed away in 1982 (aged 73). Jean Batten being born in NZ and Amelia Earhart being born in America, have both brought great pride and honour to their countries and will both be remembered for their amazing achievements.

The SPCA is a very popular charity that handles with animals in many local areas. This organisation helps with many things like, animal cruelty prevention, animal rescue and even animal justice. Not only do they help animals, but they also help educate most of the community too. For example on their website provides a "SPCA kids education portal" which was a program designed to educate young kids to support children’s learning about animal welfare and responsibility towards animals, whilst developing children’s respect, understanding and compassion for all living creatures. animal rehabilitation is also another thing that the SPCA does, which helps with providing animals with essential care and medical care to animals in need, while also doing routine health check ups, vaccination, desexing and other useful things. Although I have only named only a few things that the SPCA charity helps with, you can find out many more information on their site: SPCA site

Activity 2: Discovering Aotearoa

Day 1: Monday 16th December
Activity 2 : Discovering Aotearoa

For the 15 years that Ive been alive I have proudly represented my cultural sides. Although I was born in NZ my great grandparents came from the islands (just like Kupe).

On my mothers side I come from a small Island called Niue and on my fathers side a more popular island called Tonga. A very small village in Niue called Hakupu is where my grandfather was born, but as time went on he eventually moved to NZ, met my grandmother and had my mother. the youngest of 7. Although life was a bit different for my father and his parents. My grandparents met on the Island of Tonga, where they had 3 kids, my father being the second eldest, they lived in Kolomotu'a for a number of years after the birth of my father, then at the age of 5 my father moved with his parents to NZ. In 2004, many years after my mother and father met, my mother gave birth to her 3rd child... Me.
