Activity 3 : Concluding the journey

Day 5 : Friday 10th January (late post)
Activity 3 : Concluding the journey

Image result for summer learning

Personally I really enjoyed Week 1, Day 3, Activity 3, for that activity I created a poster of my brothers dream job and how I was going to help him achieve his goal, to me that was my favourite one because I really did like getting to know more about him, personally I also liked the recent activity where we said our points of views towards the Royal family's dance (but that definitely comes second). The activity I enjoyed the least would have to be when talking about people I look up to, mainly because there are not so many people I look up to and sometimes I look up to different people for different reasons which was really hard to choose from. Three things I learnt while completing the program was that...

1. I can do anything I put my mind to
2. I must learn to read instructions properly to get best results and do the activitys correctly
3. learning is more fun when not being forced and pressured to complete it

This program was an amazing experience and I loved every moment of it, although some times I was not able to submit my post on time due to personal reasons, I had a blast!. By saying that, I really can not think of anything they can improve on, and if they really are looking for something to change I know that it will only make these activitys much greater.

Activity 3 : Top secret street art

Day 4 : Thursday 9th January
Activity 3 : Top secret street art

The two street arts I chose were the ones above, you can find them just streets away from each other in Christchurch. Some similarities I notice is that they are both using some very vibrant colours, like blue and yellow, I also notice that they have people (or a person) in both arts as well as the fact that each painting has another type of painting inside it. For example in the right photo the art is drawn inside the word love, and in the left there is a plane and other little things in the drawing of the person. Some differences I notice is that the left photo is drawn in a more realistic form and in the right photo they have drawn in a more cartoon like. Another thing is that on the left, the art is inside of a word (the word LOVE), and on the right the art is in the drawing of a woman. Both street arts are so amazing and beautiful and with all the colours it really captures a persons eye. Personally I really love the street art on the left, but like I said before both arts are really amazing and unique in its own way.

Activity 3 : Feast or famine

Day 3 : Wednesday 8th January
Activity 3 : Feast or famine

Image result for feast or famine

At this moment in my life I would 100% participate in a 20 or 40 hour famine. I personally have never been able to participate in one and was only offered the opportunity once in my life. at that time I never took the option because I couldn't ever see my self surviving for that long without eating. Although as time went on I realised that many people do 20 - 100 hours (and more) famine, but they do not have a choice. I realise now that many people are surviving everyday with hours and hours of food and if by not eating for only 20 or 40 hours gets money raised for charity, then I would definitely do it.

Activity 3 : Girl power

Day 2 : Tuesday 7th January
Activity 3 : Girl power

Image result for jennifer lawrence goofy

The role model I choose was none other than Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actor and person. I choose her as the role model I wanted to talk about because shes a very down to earth person and to me that is a quality that any role model should have. when I say "down to earth" I mean that she is not fake, and to me that I something I look up to. Jennifer is not only a very amusing person but she makes sure to say what she wants (even if its wrong or a little silly). I also look up to her because she is very beautiful and not only that, shes not afraid to show it. I love how confident she is and I love how far she's come in life, she pushed past all the negative things people said about her and now she had many amazing movies to show for her success, like The hunger games. Jennifer Lawrence is a very kind, funny but most of all inspirational person, the energy she gives out just fills me with joy and the way she carries herself is something I really look up to.

Activity 3 : The diary of Anne Frank

Day 1 : Monday 6th January
Activity 3 : The diary of Anne Frank

Image result for thinking of what to write girl

Dear diary,

Today is the 29th of July 2019. This is my first, of hopefully many more diary entries. Today was my birthday and I was had the most extraordinary day. I was met with smiles and hugs when waking up, from my brothers, sister and parents, which was really cool and amazing too see because it is something they do not usually do. Before I left to school my dad gave me some money which made my birthday more that 10 times better. Going to school I saw my friend Angelica (aka : Jell), she greeted me with warm hugs, a big smile and her whole bag full of lollies.... JUST FOR ME, it was about 9 o'clock in the morning and my day had already been made!, I was so happy and I didn't know how anything could get any better. My day carried on and with every "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" came a big smile and hug straight after that. I spent my lunch with the most important people to me and made plans to meet up with my best friends after school. When school came to an end I was so excited to go home because I couldn't wait to stay over at my friend house. Little did I know that some of my FAVOURITE cousins were coming over. Nafe and Nevaeh came over, brought me gifts and stayed with me until I had to leave to go to Kuraias house, the time we spent waiting, aka making tik toks and silly videos was the best. When I went to my best friends house I didn't want to seem rude so I just stuck with her until she told me to go into her room to place my bag down. They (her and her sister) took my phone and secretly recorded me as I went inside the room. They had done up the WHOLE ROOM, balloons, food, movies, lollies and chocolate, just everything I wanted and more. I always told them about how my dream birthday would just for me to be chilling with my important friends and family and snacking it out while watching movies. it was one of the most amazing nights and Im so glad that it happened. They then gave me a book that they got almost EVERYONE in my year group to sign!!!, it was so amazing and great that I cried. I had, had the best night and birthday of my life and I spent it with the most important people to me, it may not have been much but in the end I wouldn't have changed anything. Goodnight Diary.

(I know that this might not sound so extraordinary to many of you but to me, it not only touched my heart but my soul as-well, it made me feel loved and wanted by my friends and family, but it really was a very extraordinary day for me)

Activity 3 : Putting our heads together

Day 4 : Thursday 2nd January
Activity 3 : Putting our heads together

Link to poster : POSTER

For my poster I tried to include many important things. I was sure to add a "person" where we can see their brain (representing mental well-being) and above their brain is a storm could, to show that they, at the moment have a negative mental well-being. Then I was sure to add some main things that John and Mike shared in their sites, but in picture forms. I placed a pair of gumboots with the letters that spell out "Friday" to represent gumboot Friday. I put the smiley face there too, to represent happiness because everyone deserves to be happy. I put the "key to life" because one of the sites that was given was called "key to life". I also put a piggy-bank with charity on it because all of the money donated is given to charity to help with kids mental health care. I put the people holding hands with the letters "P, M, H" because it stands for "Positive Mental Health" which is something that Mike and John are trying to help with. I made sure to place all those things around the person to show that there are many things around that are here to help when we are mentally unstable sometimes.

Activity 3 : Need for speed

Day 3 : Wednesday 1st January
Activity 3 : Need for speed

This is my "speedy vehicle", I designed it to look like a normal bike but really its the fastest thing ever created. It's made from special metals found from the planet Pluto (also known as the dwarf planet). The special metal becomes hard and firm when not used, but when in use it becomes as light as air and moves faster than light. Its also got boosters at the back to add to the speed (it makes me go 2x faster when in use). The yellow bit in the middle is how I activate my bike, making its that only I can use it (its got my special butt print). Also when I pick up the bike by the seat (yellow bit) it all comes together and folds itself into the seat, and when pressed twice it will pop open and come together as the bike.

Activity 3 : Hidden figures

Day 2 : Tuesday 31st December
Activity 3 : Hidden figures

To me I thought that this app was really good, although it did get very hard and difficult to understand what the coding app had wanted for me to do. The coding was very and I enjoyed playing it very much although the explanations should be a bit more clear and simple for people (like me) to understand. I was able to reach up to level 6 but only completed up to level 5.

Activity 3 : Apple vs Microsoft

Day 1 : Monday 30th December
Activity 3 : Apple vs Microsoft

Image result for coke vs pepsiRelated image Image result for all blacks vs australia

The 3 rivalries I have found are coke vs Pepsi, McDonald vs burger king as well as all blacks vs Australia. Coke and Pepsi are two very popular soda (fizzy) company's that have been battling for many years trying to take the number 1 spot (while also battling many other company's as well). Its not too clear who is involved but the two franchises are always trying to "one up" each other while also coming in with something new when the other has made a mistake or when the other is failing. Although personally I choose Coke over Pepsi any day. The other franchises that have been going head to head, battling it out for the number one spot would have to be McDonald's vs Burger King. McDonald's and Burger King are two very popular fast food franchise. I also could not find out who is mainly involved but, these two company's have also been trying to "on up " each other as well. For example they try to keep coming up with better adds, bringing in many celebrities to catch the eyes of young people to make them want to go to their food franchise even more. The other rivalries would be Australia vs All blacks. These two teams have also been versing each other for the number one spot, but unlike the other company's these two teams battle each other physically in a game of Rugby. These two teams are involved, battling each other when ever they get a chance.

Activity 3 : Wise words

Image result for better to let go quotes

For this activity I went to my lovely older sister. It may seem weird to why I would choose her but my sister is a strong and wise person. Her wise advice that she wants people to know is, if there are people or things holding you back from you succeeding then let them or it go because nothing is more important than your success (what she said without the "ummmmm" and "uhhhhhhh").

Activity 3 : Belle of the ball

Image result for the absolutely true diary of a part time indian

(I don't think I've ever written a review before, I don't even know what a review is)

Over the years I've read many many books, and I've enjoyed almost all of them. Today I'll be writing about a book that I've only read recently but has quickly become one of my favourites, and the title of this book is"the absolutely true diary of a part time Indian". The book is about a young native Indian who is trying to find his "hope". The boy, known as Junior, was born on a Reservation where all his friends and family grew up, in the book he tells us about his experience on the Reservation and how he copes when everything goes bad. We then follow him on his journey to a different school, a richer school. The book talks about many things like family, racism, violence, alcohol, death, dreams, love and even poverty. I love this book for many reasons and I would 10/10 command this book to anyone who wants to read it.

Activity 3 : I have a dream

Day 2 : Tuesday 24th December
Activity 3 : I have a dream

Image result for Rosa Parks dream quote

Rosa Parks, an American woman with the dream and soulful will to make things for everyone equal. The problem was the fact that the law was bias, and even though they claimed to have created the Jim Crow Law's so both coloured and non coloured people would be treated equal that was not so. The coloured and white people were treated differently, for example the black citisens were given less opportunity's than the white people and they would also get in trouble with the law for silly reasons. Rosa Parks joined a group with her husband working towards putting an end to discrimination and segregation, known as NAACP. On December 1st 1955 Rosa Parks finished a long day of work and took the bus home as usual. As the bus got full there were not seats left, so when a white male boarded the bus she was demanded to remove from her seat and Rosa being a strong woman refused because she knew that she was being mistreated, and because of herself not moving she was taken to jail which ultimately resulted in a large protest by the other coloured people. After telling the court how the law was unfair and long protest, (the busses losing lots of money due to the fact that 70% of their passengers were coloured people), the supreme court ruled that the Jim crow laws were "unconstitutional" which made many coloured people happy but all the white people more angry than usual. Rosa lived a long life, still fighting for peoples rights wherever she could.

Activity 3: Dear Jacinda

Day 1 : Monday 23rd December
Activity 3 : Dear Jacinda

Image result for no to smoking

Dear Jacinda,

I know that Jacinda would most likely never read this but if she does I would want her help on banning cigarettes. I've chosen to ask Jacinda to ban cigarettes because it has so many negative affects on people. As you know cigarettes are what many people smoke and although they say its a "stress reliever" its very unhealthy for the lungs, and if people smoke often then they are most likely to develop lung cancer. Cigarettes are also somewhat expensive, so most people waste their money on smokes leaving not enough money for food or gas. For example a pack of 25 (Pall malls) would usually cost from $25 to $27 dollars, that much money is enough to buy 4 milk and 7 bread. Now that's a lot, but most people can't afford it after buying smokes that they are so addicted to (only because of the nicotine in it). This is a really important issue because it not only affects many peoples lives in and outside of my community but (sometimes) in my own family. So Jacinda, I hope I was able to persuade you to ban cigarettes.

Activity 3 : Own choice

Day 5 : Friday 20th December
Activity 3 : Own choice

Image result for lorena galiki

I know of many famous people who get acknowledged for their good deeds in changing the world, but today I want to acknowledge someone who I think has been very helpful over the years. This woman's name is Lorena, I know this because she is my mother. I'm very proud and honoured to say that to me she is a change-maker. My mother is a social worker, and is very dedicated to her job. With her job she has to help many people who have been wronged or have experienced something very traumatic. My mother helps then not only mentally, by calling them and making sure that they are ok (and other things), but she also helps out physically. She meets up with her clients for lunches, helps clean homes and sometimes even gives them clothes and food. My mother not only does great in her job by working over time to make sure that her clients find their justice and closure, but she is also amazing help outside of her job too. She donates her time and money to people in need, she even drove around at 3 in the morning looking for a man that went missing. She did it because she has such a big and kind heart. You many not think my mother is a change-maker but with every path she has ever crossed she always finds a way to help them out. My mother may not be changing the world on the biggest scale, but shes helping when and where she can, doing it one person at a time.

Activity 3: Miracle on Hudson

Day 2: Tuesday 17th December
Activity 3: Miracle on Hudson

Summer Learning Journey
The day I helped my friend
Limi's story

When I was younger I made a really big decision which I, and many other people thought was very brave. When I was in primary (year 5 or 6)  it was the time of the year where we had to run laps around our local area for school. On that day I decided to run with my friend Heather. Heather and I were good friends so when I had the opportunity to keep her out of danger I did. our school being on top of a little hill, we raced up with all our might. Being really tired Heather made her way in front of me. Almost to the school gate she ran faster, and so did I, then all of a sudden I saw it. A car at full speed was reversing out of its driveway without looking, and my friend didn't even know. That's when I knew I had to do something, I knew that if I yelled out to her it would be too late so instead I leaped ahead and pushed her out of the way. Unfortunately I was hit by the car and only suffered minor injuries, but I was able to save my friend from getting hurt and I gained a cool story.
