Looking into the future

Summer Learning Journey - Looking into the future

Activity 1 : What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog.

When I finish school I would hope to go to university. At the university I will study to become a flight attendant with my best friend so that we can travel the world together and get paid doing it. I also need to work on my being nice skills and it might really help. After a couple of year doing that job I will go back to University and do Law school because I want to travel the world then go for my true passion which is debating. But I will still live with my parents only to look after them but if they dont want me in the house then im gone, but if not the only time i will ever leave is when they leave first.

Activity 2 : Tell us which of the three cars you would choose and why.

I would choose the modern day car because as me and my once close friend would say, The past is in the past and the future is currently unknown, that's why the present is our gift. And right now my gift would of also been a new car.

Activity 3 : Write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?

Fire rages over cities, rubbish piled amongst houses and overflowing the seas. waters from clear blue to dark mucky black. Houses so small not even a family of 4 can fit. people fine dining at the fish and chip shop, smokers throwing hundreds away day after day after day. Not a single animal to be heard when all is silent. Not even the insects would sing at night. hospital beds overflowed by people with poisoning after eating fish from the contaminated waters. people still debating on weather we should save the seagulls or just build more car parks for the motel and hotel across the road from the beach. No one ever goes to the beach, only because the sun burns, its gone way to hot for any one to handel. This is the future I believe we will be living if we keep acting like this.

The day that her Grandmother was passing her last words to Moana was to take the heart of Te Fiti and restore is with the help of Maui. ( the heart of Te fiti is a very important ston that Maui the demigod of the wind and see stole. now Moana's village is in danger coz everything is dying ) Moana was also chosen by the sea to restore the heart of Te Fiti. So moana sets off to find Maui and when she does she demands him to restore the heart, but he refuses. Lyrics:
A dangerous plan, just this time a stranger's hand clutched in mine I'll take this chance, so call me blind I've been waiting all my life please don't scar this young heart just take my hand. I was made for loving you even though we may be hopeless hearts just passing through every bone screaming (I don't know what we should do) All I know is, darling, I was made for loving you. Hold me close through the night don't let me go, we'll be alright touch my soul and hold it tight I've been waiting all my life I won't scar your young heart just take my hand. Cause I was made for loving you even though we may be hopeless hearts just passing through every bone screaming I don't know what we should do all I know is, darling, I was made for loving you. Please don't go, I've been waiting so long oh you don't even know me at all but I was made for loving you. I was made for loving you even though we may be hopeless hearts just passing through every bone screaming I don't know what we should do all I know is darling I was made for loving you.

Social Systems

Summer Learning Journey - Social Systems

Activity 1 : Imagine that you had to form a coalition government with two other people.  Who would you choose to partner with?

I would form a coalition with my best friends. My best friend Moana because she will make us laugh but also make sure we get our task done. I would also choose my other best friend Tuakana, because she is really smart, she can have a really great time but she also knows when to be very serious. I also chose them because they are both funny and kind and the fact that we are best friends shows me that we already have each others back.

Activity 2 : Post a picture of your hometown and provide a list of three things that tourists, like us, could do if we came to visit. What do you like most about your hometown?

Image result for glen innes auckland      Image result for glen innes auckland
The pictures that I have provided are just little pieces of my amazing home town. Looking at Glen Innes town center might not be that appealing to you all but once you really go its like nothing you have ever experienced before. From the people to the food nearly everything at GI is amazing. The people of my home town might be scary at first glance but once you give them a nice smile and wave hello they won't seem like any threat. While I live in this amazing yet small town there are many things that you can do you have fun and many advantages. For one there is a place in GI called Te Oro ( its the first picture I put up ). Te Oro I a music and art center, equipped with high tech and they have something amazing going on everyday. We also have a swimming pool, the swimming pool might not look cool but its really fun if you go with the right people. Oh, and the library is also a fun place to go to. Yes, I know that the first thing you think of is boring. But, In a busy place like GI the library is like a spa, you can just relax. Another thing that we have up our sleeves is that we are only take about 10 - 20 minutes to get to Auckland city.

Activity 3 : Draw a floorplan of your classroom and upload it to your blog. Describe what is special about your classroom and why you designed it this way.

The reason why my classroom is unique is because we have our own personal playground. so everyday we can play by ourselves if we want to. We also have a kitchen because our teacher will do cooking with us every day and teach us new things and what to do and what not to do in a kitchen. We also have different shaped tables so that the shapes in our class is not all circles or all squares. We also have large cubby holes so we can fit our bags and school supplies in it. Our class is full of different colours. The walls are yellow with green stripes, and the carpet is light blue with red poke dots. And I forgot to mention 2 things. Our class is right across from the toilet and while our teacher has fun teaching her students have fun being taught.

My sport hero would have to be John Wall. Okay, so many of you might not know him and that is fine. So, John Wall is a NBA player. He plays for the Washington Wizards. Now John Wall to others might not be the best player ever but he is to me. He inspires me so much and to me when he plays he plays with the desire and the fire in his heart that is telling him to win for his family and friends and even some people he has lost. Like for instance When Miyah a little 6 year old girl who had cancer passed. When I watched the game I could see that he was giving his all and he was out to win for her. But other than that it would have to be him, if not him then stephen curry, lebron james, steve smith or lamelo.

If the money was given to me I would first reserve one hundred fifty million ( half ) and with half of it i would give to charities and homeless people in NZ and Africa. Then with the rest of the money I would bye land for my family in tonga, niue and in New Zealand while also taking them on a trip around the world. I would also give money to my other family members who stuck by my side and help out my family when we needed them the most. I would also take my 2 bestfriends to travel the world with me ( if they are aloud ).

Activity 3 : Take a selfie and post it on your blog.

This selfie was taken at school ( after school ) and this photo shows one of my most favoured hobbies and it is hanging out with my best friend who I now love and treat like a sister.

Perms and Lycra ( The 1980's )

Summer Learning Journey : Perms and Lycra ( The 1980's )

Activity 1 : Use the following sentence starter from the original book to finish the story.

As it rained cats and dogs Hairy sat at the window and gazed out toward the front gate. As he sat he started to weep in at the window knowing that he couldn't go outside. I walk into the kitchen for a glass of milk and feel a little tug at my feet. It was Hairy. He was tugging at my feet to let him out but it was raining so I told him to sit on the couch. As he stared into my eyes his was filled with the desire to go out side but, it was raining. a couple seconds pass and he runs to the couch and digs his furry little head agents it and weeps. As a couple minutes go past the weeping stops. In confusion I walked out side to the living room and saw him fast asleep on the couch. The next day came around and the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. I could feel Hairy tugging at my feet while I tried to sleep but he was admit to get my up. i got up and opened the front door and Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.

Groovy man ( the 1970's )

Summer learning Journey - Groovy man ( the 1970's )

Activity 1 : Rank the clips in order from your most favourite (#1) to your least favourite (#3).

1. Ray Columbus and the Invaders
2. New Zealand Underdogs
3. Golden Harvest

Activity 2 : Tell us, on your blog, two things that you like about 1970s fashion and two things that you don’t like about the fashion of the day.

For one I really like the fact that they wore dresses all the time only because at this moment its summer and I'm hot. Another thing I like is the pants, I really like how at the end it fluffs out. BUt the downfall is that the t-shirt that the women are wearing are just so hmmmm, not my kind of style and, the hairstyle that the men have are just so bland and plain there is no flavor or jaz to the look.

Activity 3 : On your blog, write a letter to your principal to try and convince him/her to make the change. Ensure that your letter is polite and respectful.

Dear: Mr Hendriks

Im writing to you today to explain. Explain and persuade you make a change and this one will have not a better but a greater outcome. Mr I'm writing today about why our school should stop giving out homework. So Mr , one example I would like to expose is the fact that it takes up lots of time. While we sit inside and do our homework we could be outside getting some exercise or helping around the house. Another reason I think you should stop giving out homework to kids at school is because it causes stress. Mr you may be looking at this letter with a perplexed look on your face but it's true. We kids stress about the fact that we don't get it or the fact that we won't be able to finish it on time. And it's really unhealthy to stress every single day. Mr you don't have to stress out about why so many kids are coming late to school, it's because of the fact that we have to stay up and finish our homework or chores and things that we couldn't do before. So Mr I hope that you can take my reasons into consideration and hopefully homework will be banned from our school.

Peace Out! ( The 1960's )

Summer Learning Journey - Peace Out ( The 1960's )

Activity 1 : What is your favourite television show at the moment?

At this very moment my favourite television show would have to be Ellen Degeneres. It's about this woman who does really nice things to people she thinks deserves it. On weekdays she is aired on TV 1 every midday.

Activity 2 : Post three interesting facts about The Beatles Tour on your blog.

1. One girl badly hurt her leg from trying to climb the wire fence.

3. Teen age girls pushed over police motorbikes and the beatles car was shunted backwards even with the hand brake on.

White picket fences ( 1950's )

Summer Learning Journey - White picket fences ( 1950's )

Activity 1 : Tell us if you think that the ‘meat and three veg’ rule is a good one.

I actually really like the rule. I think that I would enjoy this 1950's dinner. For one it is a meal that I would be able to eat. Its not so much that I can't eat it all and it's not too little to the point that I have to waste it or save some for later. I would also like to eat it because we have a great portion of vegetables and it's also a good portion of meat.

Activity 2 : Tell us which names are currently popular in your school. Please provide, at least, three girls’ names and three boys’ names that are popular.

At my school the most popular girls name was Mya, there was at least 3 girls with that name, but its may not seem that much because the population of our school is very small. And, the most popular boys name at our school Sione. There was at least 5 boys with that name. then it went William with 2 boys with that name. But for the girls it went Jazire with 2 people having that name. But thats all. I've tried to remember all the kids in my school and these are all the names where I could match them with another.

Activity 3 : Imagine that you are living in New Zealand in the 1950s. Design the front of a postcard that you could send to a friend. Be sure to describe what you have drawn on your blog beneath the picture.

In my picture I gathered things off the internet. I got ferns because they are an essential part of NZ. I did the kiwi because it is our traditional animal. I put fish and pavlova on my card too because many of us New Zealanders eat them on special occasions. I then put jandals on it because New Zealanders are known for wearing jandals. I then put elves on it because everyone knows that they help santa make the presents. The I finally put the sentence "Merry Christmas" which was designed very elegantly.
