Measurement

In maths class room 12 we were learning about Measurement and we learnt that a circle is 360 degrees and half a circle is 180 degrees because half of 360 is 180 and quarter of 360 is 90.

Also in maths class we have been learning to use a protractor to find a angle of a square.

Brainie 24/October/2014

This week in maths class I have played a game called Brainie. In this game you have to add and subtract numbers to get the number he is think of in his head.Sometimes you can level up and sometimes you have to keep on going.

If you would like to play this game click here
http://www.coolmath-games:Brianie

But thats only one thing I have done this week.I have also done my maths sheet the title is
WALT:subtracting using tidy numbers.
It means like 54+48=
you have to change a number in to the nearest 10s like
54+50=104-2=102.

Adding using tidy numbers.

17/October/2014
This week in my maths class Room 12 WALT: solve addition problems by first adding a tidy number and then subtracting a small number to compensate.

If you look at the paper you cans see that we have to use number lines to help us but if we know it by place value then we can do it like that but we have to round the numbers up to tidy numbers. If you want a e.g then ...

35+27=
30+30=60-2=58+5=63

We learn this because it can help us do maths in our head like when we go shopping we have to know how much to give to the counter and if we have to pay gas then we have to know how much you have to pay and how much you can keep.

On the 20th of August room 9 went to the hall to learn how to make muffins and I learnt a lot of how to make muffins and the reason why we had to learn how to make muffins was because our topic is about muffins.

(LCM) of 2 numbers 22/August/2014

WALT (CLM) of 2 numbers 22/August/2014

In my maths class room 12 I learnt (LCM) of 2 numbers LCM means lowest common multiple. How to do do the math
e.g 12 and 15
12,24.36,48,60,72.84
15,30,45,60,75,90
The lowest common of 12 and 15 is 60 and that is how to do this math.

Fraction of a set 15/August/2014

Fraction of a set

WALT:find a fraction of a set

In this game you have to match the shapes and the fractions together like I did here. This game is really helpful because this is what we are learning to do in class, it makes it easy for me and it is also really fun to play too. When you are playing this game you get leveled up every time you get all of them right. If you would like to play this game

Fraction monkeys

WALT: do equivalent fractions

In this game of fraction it is mostly about equivalent fractions. Equivalent fractions means the numerator and denominator adds up like 1/4 + 1/4 = 4/8 or 1/2 its just like that. I think this game is really good for you it can help you with your equivalent fractions too.

If you would like to play this game you can go here

First Netball training

First Netball training       23/July/2014

On Wednesday just after morning tea Room 9 and I went to the court to learn about netball.First we took off our jumpers and jackets because it was going to be really hot doing netball. Then we had to line back up outside of the class ready to go,I could not wait. When we got there I was so excited to play.Next a lady came out and her name was Donna. She was the one who was going to teach us netball. The first activity we did was a warm up. We had to stand on the yellow line and Donna told us to go to the other yellow line. When I was doing it my thighs were hurting so I just took my time but I went quite fast. After that we played a game called friendly fire she told us we had to get in 3 or 2 pairs. I was buddies with Jasmine, we had to get a ball and stand across from our partners.  Then when donna said friendly we had to do over head pass and when she said fire we had to try and get our partner's foot if we got it we’d get a point and if we didn't it’s their turn to have a go.Then we moved on to the next activity we had to go behind a dot. The colours were red, blue, and green. I went in the blue team, two people from each team had to help, one had to hold the hula hoop and the other had to go behind the hoop to catch the ball and throw it back to us.The hoop started at the bottom of the floor the blue team won because they got over 20 points and the other team got under 10 then the hoop went up and we had to do chest pass the blue team won again. Then we moved on to the next game the girls had to get into one circle and the boys in another, we got two balls and we had to pass them around the circle and if we dropped the ball we have to sit down. Finally Donna saw the other class and then we put our hands in the middle and threw them up in the air and said Room 9’s the best.
